Here is a little beach scene I did a few months back. Acrylic, 8"x 8" and lots of fun to paint. In a collection up in Canada now. They need some beach scenery up there in the winter time!
I have enjoyed drawing and painting all my life, and have loved orchids for forty years, ever since I saw my first cattleya orchid plant at a plant nursery in Dallas.
In those days, it was rare to see a live orchid plant, much less with blooms on it! I was enthralled and set about learning all I could about the vast tribe of orchid species as quickly as possible. I studied every book I could find and started collecting plants immediately.
I eventually had three greenhouses and bought and sold orchids for several years in the Dallas area before moving to Arizona and later to Washington State. My interest in orchids lay dormant for a number of years while I pursued other interests and responsibilities.
Finally, in 2006, after starting up my watercolor painting again in Florida, I renewed my acquaintance with the great tribe of orchids and began to paint the flowers I so love.
I am a member of the Florida Watercolor Society and will be showing some of my work in their annual show this September, 2010.
I retain copywright privileges to all my images.
